Dr Anna Douglas is a lecturer in Fine Art at Leeds University. She is active as a curator, researcher and writer with a particular interest in the practices and theories of visual media, particularly photography in its many forms.
Anna has curated five Shirley Baker exhibitions and has had access to Shirley Baker’s personal archive. She is known for her participatory approach to curating, reaching out to the people in the images and asking them to share their memories and experiences of being photographed.
In this talk, Anna shows us how to 'read' a Shirley Baker photograph and sheds fascinating light on the balance of fact and fiction in Baker's work.
Free admission, but booking essential via this link or by phone 01223 849004.
