Based On A True Story (BOATS) Theatre Company specialise in dramatising true stories and historical events, and historian and writer Dr Sean Lang has written a new play telling the story of local boy George Brewster.

In 1875 Fulbourn Hospital was the scene of a tragedy that changed history, when young George Brewster died of asphyxiation cleaning the chimney of one of the hospital’s boilers. His tragic death and the attempts at a cover-up that followed it caused a national scandal that changed the law to ensure no child was ever sent up a chimney again.
