Technical information about this website’s accessibility
South Cambridgeshire District Council is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No.2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Compliance status
The website has been tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard.
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.
Non-accessible content
Focus order and Keyboard navigation
When zoomed in at 200% or more, you are unable to tab through the 'explore' menu using keyboard navigation, this therefore prevents some users from being able to navigate through the whole menu and site. This therefore means we are not compliant with WCAG2.A 4.3 and WCAG2.1 A 1.
We are working with our developers to resolve this and hope to have a resolution in place by 26 September 2025.
Lists are marked up incorrectly
Within our navigation menus, the close button HTML is wrapped within the list HTML meaning screen readers are not being presented with an accurate report of the amount of items in the list. This therefore means we are not compliant with WCAG2.0 A 4.1.1.
We are working with our developers to resolve this and hope to have a resolution in place by 10 October 2025.
Colour contrast
Some elements of this website, for example on the search page and within the footer of the website do not have a sufficient colour contrast meaning some elements might be difficult to see for those users who are colour blind.
We are working with our developers to resolve this and hope to have a resolution in place by 10 October 2025.
Page titles
Not all of our pages have the title tag present, meaning users needing to assistive technologies might not have an appropriate page title read out to them. This therefore means we are not compliant with WCAG2.0 A 2.4.2.
We are working with our developers to resolve this and hope to have a resolution in place by 10 October 2025.
Alt Text
Our images are not marked as decorative meaning in most instances, the alt text might not be appropriate and screen readers will read out Alt text that provides no purpose. This therefore means we are not compliant with WCAG2.0 A 1.1.1.
We are working with our developers to resolve this and hope to have a resolution in place by 10 October 2025.
Headings
Throughout our website, some headings have not been specified correctly in a heading tag. This means users who need to use assistive technology might find it difficult to differentiate between different sections of our website. This therefore means we are not compliant with WCAG2.0 A 1.3.1.
We are working with our developers to resolve this and hope to have a resolution in place by the end of October 2025.
The purpose of form fields are not identified programmatically
On our listings page, our form fields do not identify their purpose programmatically. This means browsers are unable to help users fill in forms with known information, such as their name and email address. This therefore means we are not compliant with WCAG2.1 AA 1.3.5.
We are working with our developers to resolve this and hope to have a resolution in place by the end of October 2025.
Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations
Maps
Our maps aren’t used for navigational purposes so are exempt from the accessibility regulations.
