Coworth Park’s Adam Smith joins Mark Poynton for a one-off ‘4 Hands’ dinner at Ancient Shepherds

Mark Poynton has built his career in Cambridge, first as chef-patron of Alimentum, where he held a Michelin star, and more recently at his restaurant Mark Poynton at Caistor Hall, which opened in 2023 and was awarded a Michelin star for 2025.

In July, Mark launched his latest venture, Ancient Shepherds – a restaurant with rooms located on the site of his former restaurant, MJP @ The Shepherd’s. Now offering a tasting menu only, this marks an exciting new chapter for Mark and his team, where thoughtful, ingredient-led cooking is served in a relaxed village setting, with a focus on seasonality, sustainability, and the best of British produce.

Adam Smith, best known for his precise, elegant cooking and background as a Roux Scholar, has earned a reputation as one of the UK’s leading chefs. His food blends classical technique with a modern approach and was quickly recognised with a Michelin star.
