Stapleford Granary are delighted to host an exhibition of Edwardian prints by village grandee Fanny Lucretia Wale, marking the second facsimile publication of A Record of Shelford Parva, the first dedicated history book of Little Shelford.
Falling somewhere between a history, a journal and an artist’s sketch book, village grandee Fanny Wale created this exquisite 81-page volume over a period of 11 years, between 1908 and 1919. Filled with facts, gossip, lists, music, maps and stunning illustrations, the book and print exhibition tells the story of a small south Cambridgeshire village through the lens of Edwardian society.
A curated selection of Fanny Wale’s illustrations from the book have been printed and framed and are hung on the cafe gallery wall for visitors to view. Alongside c. 20 prints is one original painting by Fanny Wale, generously loaned by members of the Wale family.
