Professor Lawrence Zeegen, author of Ladybird by Design, explores the history of the iconic pocket-sized classics from early beginnings to the present day with a particular focus on their heyday of the 1960s and 1970s.

Dedicated to entertaining and educating the nation’s youth, Ladybird believed in the transformative power of the illustrated book - from the adventures of Peter and Jane to 'People at Work’, ‘How it Works’ and ‘Well-Loved Tales’ every topic was brought to life by a team of talented writers and illustrators.

Lawrence, Professor of Illustration at University of the Arts London and a boyhood Ladybird fan, gives a warm insightful lecture on the importance and influence of these little literature time capsules.

This event is connected with the Ladybird Exhibition.
