Five members of renowned vocal ensemble I Fagiolini present an evening of songs and piano pieces, created especially for Stapleford Granary.

Away from the concert hall, Brahms championed the world of private music-making, creating many pieces and arrangements for enjoyment in the home and smaller settings. He saw his vocal quartets with piano as ideally suited to domestic performance, treating the four voices like a miniature chorus, drawing from them a remarkable range of colour with occasional solos and a cappella passages.

This evening’s programme extends the intimacy of the domestic setting, complementing Brahms’ vocal quartets with songs and piano pieces by the two composers closest to Brahms; Clara and Robert Schumann.

Pre-concert food will be available to purchase. Ticket holders will be sent an email a week before the date of the concert with details of the menu and information on ordering.
