An evening of uplifting, unadorned festive tunes played by one of folk's greatest traditional music exponents. John Kirkpatrick is the veteran squeezebox maestro of the English folk scene, and an impressive singer.
In this show “Carolling & Crumpets" the title of which takes its name from John’s unforgettable song of the same name, it tells the Nativity story from the point of view of the animals in the stable. This show is a heart-warming look at the timeless rituals found in the folklore and folk music of England at Midwinter.
Expect mysterious and murky goings-on in magical songs of wassailing, wren-hunting, stirring the fire, and incessant feasting with toe-tapping tunes and cracking choruses. There's a smattering of cheery original songs and carols - both familiar and unfamiliar - all supported by John’s panache and acclaimed skill on a variety of squeezeboxes.
Pre-concert food will be available to purchase. Ticket holders will be sent an email a week before the date of the concert with details of the menu and information on ordering.
