LYR: Outdoor Courtyard Concert

Making a welcome return to the Granary is Poet Laureate Simon Armitage and his ambient post-rock band LYR (Land Yacht Regatta), a collaboration with singer-songwriter Richard Walters and multi-instrumentalist Patrick James Pearson. 

Simon has long identified a territory he calls ‘a twilight zone’ in his work where poetry and song lyrics converge. In this live performance, he explores the music of language, fronting the band with the doleful, captivating tones of his instantly recognisable voice.

For the outdoor concerts Stapleford Granary is transformed into a magical setting for live music. Nestled in the heart of this former Victorian farming complex is a courtyard surrounded by lavender bushes and creeping clematis, set against the black wood of historic stable blocks.

A 300 square metre creamy coloured tent with five turrets and dripping with festoon lights covers a staged area and provides fully sheltered seating for 180 people.
